Order
of Stefan the Great (sample) |
|
This
is a copy of the highest military order awarded in Moldova
(established on 30 July 1992). The original is made of gold
plated silver with the centrepiece in silver. This is probably
a sample and is unnumbered. The centre emblem depicts the
famous Moldovan ruler Stefan called the Great and has a safety
pin like attachment on the reverse. The centre piece
is white enamel with laid-in lettering with zirkonia stones.
It weighs 25.7g while the original is from gold plated silver
that weighs 35g. I saw an unissued Order (yet to be awarded)
in the Moldovan President's Office on 13 April 2004. The award
is constructed from several parts held together by one rivet.
It was issued to people who distinguished themselves during
battle in the 1992 civil conflict but I am still trying to
find out to how many people.
