 Medal for Bravery (unissued sample)

The medal is untypical as it is probably a sample to which someone added an engraved number on the reverse. It weighs 12.5g and is made of "Tompak" (bronze). I inspected an unissued (yet to be awarded) original in the Moldovan President's Office on 13 April 2004 and noted that its weight was only 11.5g (I saw number 00689). The medal has a fairly intricate suspension, has a soldered ring and was made in Bucharest. The engraved "fake" number is 0002 but should have been stamped and with five digits (00002). The avers bears the words "for bravery/pentru vitejiu". Most were awarded to those who fought in the 1992 war with Transdniestrian separatist forces. I am trying to find out how many people received this medal.
