Medal for
Military Merit (unissued sample) |
|
The
medal is untypical as it is probably a sample to which someone
sold to a dealer in Bulgaria as it has no number on the reverse.
It weighs 12.2g and is made of "Tompak" (bronze).
I inspected an unissued (yet to be awarded) original in the
Moldovan President's Office on 13 April 2004 and noted that
its weight was different. The medal has a fairly intricate suspension,
has a soldered ring, red and white enamel and was made probably
in Bucharest. A number should have been stamped with five digits
on the reverse. The avers bears the words "Military merit/Meritul
militar" and is under the Moldovan coat of arms. Most were
awarded to those who fought in the 1992 war with Transdniestrian
separatist forces. I am trying to find out how many people received
this medal.
