This
medal was established on 7 June 1993, thus after the dissolution
of the USSR, by decree no. 5336-1 of the President of the Russian
Federation. It was awarded to WW II veterans who served in Soviet
armed forces or participated in the war effort in other ways.
The award document is not filled in but is properly stamped
and signed (facsimile). The medal is in unissued condition
and has no letters on the ring (thus Moscow mint) while type
two has the letters LMD (Leningrad Mint).
