Awarded
as of 30 September 1945 with 1.8 million issued. Made of brass
with Marshal Stalin looking East (on the Victory over Germany
he looked West) issued in three variations distinguished by
their ring.
This is variation 3 that had a ring part of the medal and
round and hanger from a heavy metal with two layers (awarded
after 1946). Variation 1 had twosub-variations distinguished
by the letters on the revers that are 4.9mm or 4.2mm high
or by the number 4 which is either straight or slightly curved
inwards (as in this one). Variation 2 also had a heavy metal
suspension but of one layer (1946-48) and the ring was "u"
shaped.
