 Instituted on 17.10.1938 with some 5 million issued (only
27.000 before the Great Patriotic War). Made of silver
and before 1943 on a square suspension. Pictured right
(no. 2830717) with soldered ring and saber hilt straight.
In award group
consisting of the Order
of Alexander Nevsky Type 3 (no. 22910), two Red Stars
(nos. 82149 from 1942 type 2 and 2977218), one 1943 issue
Patriotic War 1st Class (no. 230802 type 2 variation 1), a
Red Banner (no. 153491 type 3 var.1) and another medal for
Combat Service (no. 478557). Part of a documented
set consisting of the Orders of Lenin (no. 193535 type 6 var.
1 Leningrad Mint), a Red Star (no. 909499 from 1942 type 2)
and two Red Banners (nos. 338657 type 3 var.4 and 497074 type
3 var. 3).
