Instituted
on 17.10.1938 with some 5 million issued (only 27.000 before
the Great Patriotic War). Made of silver and before
1943 on a square suspension. Variation 5 had no number on
reverse, the ring was part of the medal and round (variation
4 the ring was flat, variation 3 the ring was u-shaped with
a serial number or without).
