Paisia Velichkoevskii |

One
of nine religious distinctions (Orders of 1st and 2nd degree
and medal of Stefan the Great, Orders and Medal of Piasia
Velichkoevski and Orders and Medal of of St. Paraskakeva)
that were instituted on 17 July 2003 by approval by the Holy
Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church. The relevant
document dated 22 July 2002 is signed by The Moscow Patriarch
Mitropolit Solnechnogorski. This is an unissued sample that
belongs to a set of three awards including the Orders of the
1st and 2nd degree and is awarded for contributing to the
development of the Orthodox church only to men. The medal
weighs 17.1g, is 35mm in diameter, 3 mm thick, made of gold
plated silver and on a rectangular suspension (28x15mm) with
cold blue, white and red enamel. So far about 20 were
awarded by the Chisinau Patriarch who contributed to the development
of the Orthodox Church. Made for the Orthodox Church by a
Chisinau jeweler Alexei Cosovan.
