Order
of Stefan the Great 1st degree |
|
The
Order of St. Stefan the Great also has a second degree and
a medal and is the highest Moldovan religious distinction.
Awarded to the Priests and civilians who contributed to the
development the Orthodox Religion it is one of nine religious
distinctions (next to Orders of 1st and 2nd degree and Medal
of St. Paraskaeva and of Piasia Velichkoevski) that were instituted
on 17 July 2003 by approval by the Holy Synod of the Russian
Orthodox Church. The relevant
document dated 22 July 2002 is signed by The Moscow Patriarch
Mitropolit Solnechnogorski. This is an unissued sample that
weighs 45g and is made of gold plated silver(diameter 58mm
and is 4 mm thick) with red cold enamel and 20 zirkonias of
2mm diameter. So far only one is known to have been
awarded to the Mitropolit Vladimir on his 50th birthday. Made
by a Chisinau jeweler Alexei Cosovan.
