For
Service to the Motherland in the Armed Forces of the USSR 3rd Class | |
Established
28 October 1974 at the instigation of Leonid Ijich Brezhnev
who wanted to see a new order (opulent at that) to be added
to the Soviet award system. About 70.000 were issued (only 11-15
1st class and 600 2nd class), nick-named "crab", about
2 ounzes of silver (64.5g +/- 3g; 65mmx58mm), constructed of
five parts. !st and second class differ only by amount of gold
plating (only ends and tips of rockets on 2nd Class). Version
2 differs by a mirror image on reverse of the outer tips of
star (number range according to Avers 6 1113-1115 & 2195-2229
- more expensive). In very good condition (no. 15.659) but without
document. I also have numbers 98.283 and 126.655 but without
documents (also versions 1).
