Type 5 Var. 1b R1
  Banner of Red Labour

Order of the Red Banner of Labour (Орден Трудового Красного Знамени Orden Trudovogo Krasnogo Znameni), instituted on 7 September 1928 and awarded for exceptional service in scientific achievement, public or government service. It was established as the civilian counterpart of the military Order of the Red Banner and was awarded for exceptional working achievements. Very common and due to mass production (about 1.2 million awarded) many variations (until 1943 it was a screwback).  Very intricate and practically forgery proof, made of silver with some gold plating.  This one was issued in the 50s- 60s probably in Azerbaijan and is in goog condition (no. 227312) except the heavily worn ribbon. It is 44-45 mm high and only 37mm wide (c.f 46mm high 38mm wide of type 4) with the hammer above the sickel on the avers and a stamp MONETNIJ DVOR in the centre of the reverse.  There is a slight sub-variation of this type distinguished by the red star being on a larger emblem. No document.  I have some spares - see the awards for exchange page!
