Instituted
in 1935 with some 1,5 milllion awards issued altogether (many
variations due to mass production in several mints). Early versions
were screw-backs
issued until 1943, later on a suspension. This version has the
stamp of the Moscow Mint on the reverse and is to be found in
the range of numbers 160676 and 169440 and is a subvariation
2. The face of the man on the avers is smaller and the fingers
of his hand are bent (not straight as on subvariation 1).
Some 130.000 of "flatback" reverse versions with three
rivets were later superceded by the "concave
reverse" in 1950. This specimen is in very good shape
and I have several spare ones, with documents and without. See
awards for exchange
page.
