Orders
of the Great Patriotic War were instituted on 20 May 1942 and
until 16 June 1943 were on a suspension (type 1). Type two existed
from 1943 until 11 March 1985 when on the ocassion of the 40th
anniversary of the victory in the Great patriotic war Type 3
was issued. They were produced in three mints (Krasnokamskij
-KMD, Moscow - MMD and Leningrad - LMD) and the Moscow factory
Platinopribor - MZPP. They came in many variations and sub-variations.
This award is made in the Leningradskij Monetnij Dvor (LMD)
and is of the classic "kanava" reverse with numbers
10913-271428. The rings are 22 1nd 14mm apart. It resembles
the "kanava" made by the Moscow Mint which had the
interior rings sized 21 and 15mm. Thre is no mint mark. Made
of silver, weighs 26.4g and has a non-silver fastening plate
(9.9g).
