KMD Type 2 Var. 3.3 R1
  Of the Patriotic War 2nd Class

Orders of the Great Patriotic War were instituted on 20 May 1942 and until 16 June 1943 were on a suspension (type 1). Type two existed from 1943 until 11 March 1985 when on the ocassion of the 40th anniversary of the victory in the Great patriotic war Type 3 was issued. They were produced in three mints (Krasnokamskij -KMD, Moscow - MMD and Leningrad - LMD) and the Moscow factory Platinopribor - MZPP) in many variations and subvariations.

This award is quite rare and made in the Krasnokamskoj Monetnij Dvor (KMD). It differs from variation 2 by both words of the mint mark being straight (compered to bent upwards or downwards). This is the 3rd of 4 releases with a range of nos. 482705-579729 made in March 1945. The first release was had nos. 240674-248652, the 2nd nos. 341724-400526 and the 4th was made in June to August 1945 with nos. 680390-877390. The attachment screw has been shortened, is made of silver, weighs 27.1g and has an alloy attachment plate (10.4g).
