Instituted
on 6.4.1930 with some 4 million issued. This is a very early
type, in excellent condition with a fine patina. It's number
10494 dates it to the first quarter of 1940 (a so called early
Mondvor screwpost base). Variation 2 had the mint mark
"Mondvor", variation 3 had the mint mark "monetnij
Dvor" in two lines above the screw post and variation one
had no mint mark. Sub-variation 1 had the mint mark was large
bent downwards in the no. range 2148-9167 and on sub-variation 2 the mint mark was medium size and
the word "Mondvor" slightly bent upwards in the no.
range 7076-8933. This one is sub-variation 3 had
a small mint mark practically straight in the number range 9016-11682. I bought in a Geneva auction (V La Galerie Numismatique) from a Russian collector living in Germany. One of my
lowest Red Star numbers.
