Orders
of the Great Patriotic War were instituted on 20 May 1942 and
until 16 June 1943 were on a suspension (type 1). Type two existed
from 1943 until 11 March 1985 when on the ocassion of the 40th
anniversary of the victory in the Great patriotic war Type 3
was issued. They were produced in three mints (Krasnokamskij
-KMD, Moscow - MMD and Leningrad - LMD) and the Moscow factory
Platinopribor - MZPP) in many variations and subvariations.
This award is very rare and made in the Krasnokamskoj Monetnij
Dvor (KMD). Differs from variation 2 by both words of the mint
mark being straight and medium sized. This is the 1st release
with a number range 240674-248652. The 2nd had nos. 341724-400526
(made between November 1944 and January 1945), the 3rd nos.
between 482705-529729 (March 1945) and the 4th release had nos.
680390-877390 (made in June August 1945). Made of silver, weighs
25.2g and has a silver attachment plate (8.3g).
