 Orders
of the Great Patriotic War were instituted on 20 May 1942 and
until 16 June 1943 were on a suspension (type 1). Type two existed
from 1943 until 11 March 1985 when on the ocassion of the 40th
anniversary of the victory in the Great patriotic war Type 3
was issued. They were produced in three mints (Krasnokamskij
-KMD, Moscow - MMD and Leningrad - LMD) and the Moscow factory
Platinopribor - MZPP) in many variations and subvariations.
This award is very rare and was made in the Krasnokamskoj
Monetnij Dvor (KMD) as were variations 1 and 3 (variation 4
was made by the Moscow Mint). No missing enamel but the original
suspension is gone (changed probably by owner to screwback).
The reverse shows that it was modified to a screw-back by breaking
off the attachment pin and by soldering on the screw-plate from
the suspension (as a result of the changes to rules governing
Soviet Orders instituted in 1943).
