Hello, I was recently given a medal of a gift from a friend when she went on holiday to St Petersburg.

However i have struggled to identify it.

It is a golden 12 pointed star made of 4 hollow triangles (think of the star of david but 12 sided) and there is red filling in the gaps. with a gold cross in the middle.

She bought it cheaply and she said that there is a chance it is a fake.

I cannot submit a photo on your website so i will have to send it once you have replied.

Many thanks for your help.

James.

My name is Rasa D.
I have for sale a small collection of authentic Russian WWII and Soviet era medals, orders and badges, in a good condition. Most of them have ribbons, some of them have documents. Description and ‘personal history’ of each medal/order/badge can be provided on request.
Also, there are two very rare small medals/badges(postwar), I have not seen similar anywhere else (in any advertising media). One has a number on the opposite side. I am interested in an independent valuation of these objectives of memorabilia and also in it’s sale.If you would be interested in this collection, it’s pictures can be sent on a request. Further communications can also be arranged.
Regards
Rasa D.

I have two medals that I'm unable to identify. I believe that they are Soviet, but I can't find similar pictures of them anywhere online. Any help would definitely be appreciated.

I can provide pictures, if that would help.

1st: Maroon ribbon with silver (or blue) stripes. Gold colored medal with soldier preparing to throw a grenade.

2nd: Solid light blue ribbon. The medal is silver toned with a blue field/background on the front, with two men. The one on the left is holding a book, and the one on the right is holding an open scroll with four letters.

Better to send scans...if they are soviet i can help. Oa

Hi, I was just browsing through your website and would like to share some information on that first pin on your "interesting" page. It appears to be a pin for members of the Russian Federation's Federal Security Service, which was the replacement of the USSR's KGB. If you see the shield resembles the past KGB badges and the Cyrillic on the front is ÔÑÁ (FSB).

Thank you for finding the time...yes you are quite right...i am hoping to find out more details...!!

I am doing research on the Goldhead Order of Lenin. Was your No.1586 real or fake? I can't believe the prices for them! I can never afford to own one. Someone told me that the bust of Lenin was actually silver-plated(!!), but the thin silver plating wore out, so that the bust appeared as gold. Is this true? I enjoy your site very much!
Thank you.
----------------
I believe that its not a fake! NOT true on the silver plating. There were several types...a previous one was indeed of silver but when it aged Lenin looked rather dark skinned and itvwas discontinued. Replaced by gold.
